Movie Review (Underworld 3 : Rise of Lycans)

This movie, in my own simple synopsis is about vampire clans dominating over humans and werewolves. Where later on of the movie, both race stood up and fought for their rights and freedom. This movie is a combination of action and romance. Below are certain points where it is related towards human communication.

Multiple Selves
Lucian and Sonya were lovers. But in front of others, they were portraying their society selves where Sonya was the princess of the vampire clan, in other words, part of the royalty, while Lucian was a werewolf slave for the vampire clan. In public, Sonya shows no gratitude towards Lucian although he saved her life.
BUT, when they were alone, they showed their love and affection towards each other without concern of their society status or the consequences if their relationship was to be uncovered.

**Each day, I believe that EVERYONE portrays multiple selves, as a student, as a son or daughter, as a normal friend or as a soul-mate. I think it is ALMOST impossible for ONE to have only a single identity role.

Cultural Differences
In this movie, the vampire clan was at the top of the hierarchy, followed by the humans then the werewolves (Lycans). In the eyes on the vampire clan, the werewolves were just mindless beast compared to them.
Sonya’s and Lucian’s relationship was forbidden due to the fact that they were from different RACES. When light was shed upon their relationship, Sonya was sentenced to death without mercy in the end with the verdict of betraying their own kind, especially towards her father, who is the leader of the vampire clan.
Lucian survived with some luck on his side, ending up revenging for his loved one and for his race’s freedom from slavery. He managed to persuade those from his race and the human race to stand up and fight for him. They managed to fight as one as Lucian as their leader, understood the need for respect towards other races.

**In our current society, we have multiple races as well. It is a subjective matter if we are to wed our other halve which is from a different race, some may agree, some may disagree. At the end of the day, what matters most is, are we able to respect and adhere to the cultural differences or defy it?

P/S : it’s quite an interesting movie, if you’re fans of myth and actions scenes. Although named Underworld 3, it is a PREQUEL not a SEQUAL, therefore there is no need to watch the previous Underworld and Underworld 2. Enjoy^^
